Skin Tips for Florida Heat

Smiling woman wearing sunscreen on her back.
The one thing we all wear every single day of our lives is
our skin. So it behooves us all to care for the skin we’re in. Every season
delivers special challenges when it comes to keeping skin healthy and glowing.
The heat and humidity combined with increased exposure to the sun can lead to
clogged pores, breakouts and sun damage. Fortunately, we’ve got some tips for
all you beach lovers that will keep your skin looking and feeling great!

1.
Water, water everywhere – Good old
H2O kids! Not only does your body need hydration, so does your body’s largest
organ! Yes, your skin needs to be kept hydrated and even if you have oily skin,
it’s important to moisturize your skin on a regular basis. And yes, drinking
plenty of water is also essential to a good skin care regimen. Let’s face it;
what you put in your body affects what your body puts out.

2.
Out with the old, on with the new – New
skin that is. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells, rejuvenating your skin and
stimulating new collagen development. But be careful not to over exfoliate,
robbing your skin of its natural moisturizers. Also be sure to use plenty of
moisturize and sunscreen after exfoliating!! Your skin will be extra sensitive
to damaging UV rays.

3.
Too much is not enough…– Of
sunscreen! Not only is too much not enough, but you can never apply it too
often. Especially in the summer when people tend to enjoy outdoor activities
more and long-term sun exposure can really have long-term negative affects on
your skin. So lather up with sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and reapply
every 2 hours.

4.
The lips have it – Don’t neglect
your lips during your skincare regimen! To keep them looking and feeling
kiss-able and smooth, look for your favorite lip color or lip balm with an SPF
of at least 15. And apply, apply apply!

5.
Give your skin a rest from make-up….and
repeat –
Go au-natural whenever you can and skip the make-up. Trust
me, we know how wonderful it feels to have just the right foundation and that
perfect shade of eye shadow.  But letting
your skin breathe is a beautiful thing that leads to beautiful skin. It goes
without saying to clean your skin with a hypo-allergenic toner to cleanse those
pores and give your skin all the breathing room it needs to blossom.

Beautiful skin is not the result of miracles and potions and
it’s not rocket science. It’s a bit of diligence and a whole lot of common
sense. If you enjoy everything to do with great skin care, and love to help
